Our Technology
iTero® Scanner
Say goodbye to the messy trays and sticky impression material of the past. Our iTero digital scanner creates a precise 3D model of your teeth in minutes — no discomfort, no gagging, no goop.
This digital scan helps Dr. Clabaugh accurately plan your treatment and is the first digital step in designing and fabricating aligners and retainers of all types.
3D Printing
Using multiple 3D printers in our office, we can create custom retainers and aligners in our Lincoln office faster and with a better fit than ever before.
This technology lets us design and print appliances with amazing precision, which means fewer delays, fewer adjustments, and more comfortable wear.
It's just one more way we make sure your treatment fits your life and your smile.
Digital X-rays
Our digital X-ray system gives us a clear, detailed look at your teeth and jaws, helping Dr. Clabaugh diagnose and plan your treatment accurately from the start.
Digital X-rays use less radiation than traditional film X-rays, so you get safer imaging without compromising quality. It's a smarter, safer way to see what's happening below the surface.
Surgical Orthodontics
Braces or aligners alone sometimes aren’t enough to correct more serious jaw alignment issues in some patients.
Surgical orthodontics, or corrective jaw surgery, is used when the upper and lower jaws don’t align properly, causing difficulties with chewing, speaking, breathing, or overall facial balance.
This treatment combines orthodontic care with jaw surgery to reposition the bones for improved function and appearance. Dr. Clabaugh works with an oral surgeon to coordinate your care. The process often starts with braces to prepare your teeth, is followed by surgery, and is finalized with final post-recovery adjustments.
While it’s a more involved process, surgical orthodontics can offer life-changing results, restoring comfort, symmetry, and long-term bite stability. If you need jaw surgery, we’re here to walk you through it with expert guidance and compassionate care.

Palatal Expanders
Sometimes the upper jaw needs a little help to grow properly. At Clabaugh Orthodontics, we use expanders to gently create space, improve bite alignment, and guide proper development, with both traditional and 3D-printed options for a precise, comfortable fit.
3D-Printed RPEs (Rapid Palatal Expanders)
Our expanders are custom-designed for each patient using advanced digital scans and 3D-printing technology. This means a very precise fit, quicker turnaround time, and a smooth, comfortable experience.
These expanders work just like traditional RPEs — gently widening the upper jaw — but with the added benefit of next-level accuracy and comfort.
Palatal Expanders
Palatal expanders gradually widen the upper jaw, often in growing children and teens. This helps create space for crowded teeth, improves how the upper and lower jaws fit together, and can improve breathing.
The appliance is typically worn for approximately six months and adjusted at home with a simple key. It's a small tool that makes a big difference in setting the stage for a healthy, well-aligned bite relationship.
Retainers
After your braces or aligners come off, retainers keep your teeth in their new positions. Wearing these retainers as Dr. Clabaugh instructs is the best way to maintain your new, straight smile.
Clabaugh Orthodontics offers clear removable and custom bonded retainers to fit your needs and lifestyle.
Clear Retainers
Clear retainers are removable, thin, and nearly invisible — similar in look to clear aligners. They're custom-made to fit your smile perfectly and are easy to wear during the day or night, as directed by Dr. Clabaugh.
These are a great option if you want a discreet, comfortable way to maintain your results that allows easy flossing and no restrictions on foods.

Custom Bonded Retainers
Bonded retainers are a hands-free option for long-term retention, especially useful for keeping lower front teeth in place. At Clabaugh Orthodontics, Dr. Clabaugh custom-fabricates these retainers by hand, ensuring a precise fit.
The wire is bonded to the back of your teeth, completely hidden from view while working 24/7 to protect your smile.
Retainer Repairs & Smile Touch-Ups
Whether your retainer cracked, got lost, or your teeth shifted a bit after not wearing it — don’t stress.
At Clabaugh Orthodontics, we’re here to help you stay on track with quick solutions for repairs, replacements, and minor touch-ups. The sooner we address it, the easier it is to protect your smile.
Repair & Replacement of Existing Retainers
If your retainer is damaged, worn out, or missing, we can repair or replace it quickly to keep your smile in place.
Sometimes, we can even use your original digital scans (when available), we can often recreate your retainer without needing new impressions, making the process fast and easy.
Touch-Ups for Minor Movement
If your teeth have shifted slightly due to retainer loss or inconsistent wear, we can correct the movement with a short round of clear aligners or a specially designed retainer. The key is acting quickly — small shifts are easier to fix when caught early.
